How Does Our Initiative Work?
Currently, The CREW Project, Inc. serves Maryland residents only, focusing our efforts on students across the state who face financial challenges obtaining the technology essential for today's college environment. Through programs such as our College Technology Readiness Kit, we work to equip eligible students with resources that support academic achievement, productivity, and confidence as they transition into higher education.
We believe that a student's potential should never be limited by a lack of access to technology. By partnering with sponsors, donors, and community supporters, we strive to remove barriers, promote educational equity, and empower the next generation of leaders, innovators, and professionals throughout Maryland.

How It Works
The CREW Project, Inc. closes this gap by providing a complete College Technology Readiness Kit to selected incoming college freshmen who demonstrate financial need or are referred by trusted community partners.
- Individuals, corporations, and organizations sponsor one or more full CREW Tech Kits or individual items.
- Sponsored items are donated directly to The CREW Project.
- Each complete kit is awarded to a college‑bound student identified as in need.
This model allows sponsors to make tangible, visible, and high‑impact contributions, while ensuring students receive equipment that meets real academic demands.
Eligibility & Selection
CREW scholars are identified through:
- Financial need
- First‑generation college status
- Referrals from high schools, counselors, educators
- Referrals from families, community leaders, or nonprofit organizations
Students must be:
- High school senior
- Accepted or enrolled in a two‑year or four‑year post‑secondary institution
Selection prioritizes students who demonstrate ambition, determination, and a clear plan for higher education, but lack access to necessary resources.
Distribution & Care
- Once an applicant has been approved, both the awarded applicant and the sponsor will receive an award letter that explains what has been awarded, who sponsors the College Technology Readiness Kit, and who the recipient is and where they will be attending college.
- Each student receives a complete, ready‑to‑use CREW Tech Kit prior to starting college.
- Students are oriented on responsible use and care of the equipment.
- Equipment is treated not as a handout, but as an investment into the student’s future.
